THIS AUTHOR'S REFLECTIONS:
Are you one of those people that believe no harm will come to you and your
family during this coming hurricane season? I hope you are correct and
stay safe for a real long time. I don't gamble for money or my life. It only
takes a little time and money to increase your odds considerably.
A good start in bad weather preparation is to visit your neighbors and get
some to go outside and look around the area..Walk around together and
discuss what you see that can be fixed for the good of all. You can even
make up a check list for what you can improve as a small group.
I would suggest you each purchase one of my peoples handbooks. It
describes how to design a portable village for a small and large housing
area. Count up how many people could be hurt in your area if a large storm
hits, and make this your base for design. My Hurricane Recovery manual is
good for all types of disasters and shows you how to work with your
administration to have things ready in advance for your area's recovery.
This one planning book can show you how to prepare and may even save your life. It is no longer a good thing to wait for the government or volunteer agencies to bail you out when a storm has passed and everything is damaged or destroyed. Katrina sufferers are just getting some of the supplies met for them years ago. Don't let this be you!
